On 10 September 2025, APCEIU, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Fiji, held a kick-off meeting and a capacity-building workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) in Suva, Fiji. These activities marked an important step in advancing the GCED Curriculum Development and Integration (CDI) Project in Fiji.

The kick-off meeting brought together key stakeholders to provide an overview of the GCED CDI Project, share examples from other countries where the GCED CDI Project has been implemented, and discuss the objectives and directions of the GCED CDI Project in Fiji.

Following the meeting, a capacity-building Workshop was held for curriculum specialists, university faculty members, and other education partners. It featured a comprehensive introduction to the GCED CDI Project, as well as sessions on GCED as a global agenda and its relevance to Fiji.

The workshop also introduced the concept of competence-based transformative education and discussed possible approaches to embedding GCED into curriculum development and teaching practices.

By providing stakeholders with both a project orientation and a foundational understanding of GCED, these engagements laid the groundwork for continued collaboration between APCEIU and the Ministry of Education in advancing GCED in Fiji.
